I love our office multifunction printer (big ugly photocopier). It prints, it copies and it scans directly to PDF and emails it to me. Sounds simple, but it is a huge timesaver. Bills, insurance documents, receipts are all PDFed (not a word, I know) and stored safely in my Dropbox for any time access. Brilliant.

Introducing Outbox

So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across Outbox. Take a minute (or 1:50 to be precise) and watch the video.

Just One Address

Outbox picks up an account holder's mail 3 times a week, but I’d like to see this taken one step further. We’re all familiar with the joys of moving house and updating our address in numerous places; banks, loyalty cards, doctors. But what if we only ever have one address? If I had a personal PO Box, all my mail could be collected, sorted and copied for me to view on my laptop, tablet or phone.  I could then hit ‘send it to me’ for the mail I want to receive. Then the next time I move, I’d just update my Outbox ‘send to’ address.

Paper Free

In 10 years’ time we’re unlikely to need a service like this, as businesses finally stop sending us postal mail, and advertisers communicate online rather than sending us promotional bumf for our recycling bins.

But for right now, this is a great solution for reducing paper waste, clutter and keeping what’s important.

What do you think? Would you like Outbox to come to the UK?
